It reminds me of what I learned from some really great horse trainers: &quot;the slightest change, the smallest try&quot;. In other words you are rewarding for these tiny attempts toward your desired behavior. Obviously teaching a puppy to sit you may not need this philosophy, but it comes into play when we start training to do more complicated things.
